It is<\/em> possible to format Quora<\/a> comments, e.g. with bold<\/strong> and italics<\/em>, even though there isn’t any indication that it is possible.<\/p>\n

In the distant past the web interface had a formatting toolbar when adding or editing comments, but this is now only available in some of the mobile apps. But the keyboard shortcuts still work.<\/p>\n

Bold<\/h2>\n

Use Ctrl<\/kbd> + B<\/kbd> on selected text.<\/p>\n

Italics<\/h2>\n

Use Ctrl<\/kbd> + I<\/kbd> on selected text.<\/p>\n

Lists<\/h2>\n

Start with “1.” for ordered lists and “* ” (space after “*”) for unordered lists.<\/p>\n

Or alternatively, use keyboard shortcut Ctrl<\/kbd> + Shift<\/kbd> + 7<\/kbd> and Ctrl<\/kbd> + Shift<\/kbd> + 8<\/kbd>, respectively (on a selection)<\/p>\n

Links<\/h2>\n

In the answer<\/em> editor the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl<\/kbd> + K<\/kbd>, but it does not<\/em> work for comments. Instead, paste in the link and edit the link text (if needed).<\/p>\n

Code formatting<\/h2>\n

Use the “[code]” tag:<\/p>\n

But note that it doesn’t work if copy-pasted directly from this web page (due to some embedded formatting). Remove that embedded formatting by copy-pasting it through a simple text editor (like Geany<\/a>).<\/p>\n

An easier way is to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl<\/kbd> + Shift<\/kbd> + K<\/kbd> (works both on a selection and without).<\/p>\n
