It doesn’t appear there is a way to change the keyboard layout in Xfce<\/a> using the GUI (e.g., the default desktop environment in ArcoLinux<\/a>), but it is possible as described here. Though it isn’t permanent, so it must be done for every session.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n

In the control panel “Keyboard” new keyboard layouts can be added. But there doesn’t appear to be a way to select the default layout or change the current layout.<\/p>\n

Open the panel: Ctrl<\/em> + Esc<\/em> → Applications<\/em> → “Settings”<\/em> → “Keyboard”<\/em> → tab “Layout”<\/em><\/p>\n

A solution<\/h2>\n

It is possible to change the current layout using the GUI panel. It is very unintuitive, but it is:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Select<\/em><\/strong> the first layout (presuming this is the layout that is to be active) by clicking on it.<\/li>\n
  2. Move the layout down<\/em><\/strong> by clicking on the down arrow.<\/li>\n
  3. Move the layout back up<\/em><\/strong> by clicking on the up arrow<\/li>\n
  4. Now the keyboard layout has changed!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    But note that this change is not remembered across system restarts, so it must be repeated for every session.<\/p>\n
